SENATH - Joe Wayne Thompson, 77, died Sept. 30, 2003, at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Aug. 17, 1926, in Bucoda, Mo., to the late Carl and Elizabeth McDole Thompson, he was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the Senath American Legion Post and of the First Baptist Church in Senath.
On March 18, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married Goldie Thompson who survives of Senath.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Claudia Cain of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Keith Bateman of Sikeston; a daughter-in-law, Pam Thompson of Senath; three sisters, Mavis Johnson of Phoenix, Betty Maples of St. Louis and Doris Fitzgibbons of St. Charles; and six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Thompson.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Revs. Doug Clinton and Derek Combs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens in Kennett under the direction of McDaniel Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Odle, Mardon Layne, Eddie Adams, Don Wallace, Scottie Jackson and John Wilcox.
Honorary pallbearers will be American Legion members Jimmie Don Odle, Kenneth Sikes, R.W. McLain, Joe Bost and Larry Hemphill.
