EAST PRAIRIE -- Beatrice McClendon Holder, 86, died at 8:40 p.m. Oct. 2, 2003, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 27, 1916, in the Pulltight Community near East Prairie to the late Arthur and Mary E. Greer McClendon, she lived all of her life in Mississippi County where she was a seamstress having sewn for several families. She was also a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.
On Jan. 22, 1935, in East Prairie, she married James R. Holder who preceded her in death on April 29, 1999.
Survivors include: one son, James R. "Ronnie" Holder of East Prairie; three grandchildren, Lisa Montgomery of Arnold, Jeffrey Ireland of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Melissa Ireland of Charleston, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Holder and an infant daughter; and six sisters, Lillie Givens, Lottie McClendon, Rose Harris, Linnie Collison, Bessie Rowe and Marie Stewart.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. with Cecil Harkey officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
