NEW MADRID - Alpha Fay Howard, 81, died at 4:45 a.m. Oct. 5, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in New Madrid.
Born Jan. 2, 1922, in Truman, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Rolla and Bessie Warren Perry.
On March 15, 1941, in Wauseon, Ohio, she married James Raymond Howard who preceded her in death on May 7, 1981.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, David and Lydia Howard of New Madrid; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Yuanita Perry of Destin, Fla.; one sister, Mary Richie of Fort Myers, Fla.; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, David and Shannon Howard of Sikeston; one great-granddaughter, Hayli Howard of Sikeston; and several nieces and nephews, including Yvonne and James LaFerney of New Madrid.
Three brothers also preceded her in death.
She will be sadly missed by family and friends, especially her many friends who shared her enjoyment of canasta.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn. The Rev. Travis Lambert will officiate.
Pallbearers will be: David Howard Jr., James LaFerney, J.J. Reese, Richard Bodi, Cecil Hicks and Joe Drake.
Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid is in charge of arrangements.
