SIKESTON - Voters in 10 area school districts will cast ballots Tuesday on the state's requirements for a minimum local funding level. The Outstanding Schools Act, passed by the General Assembly during the 1993 legislative session, enacts a new school foundation aid formula. The formula is used to allocate more than $1 billion in state aid to the state's 536 school districts. This legislation also set a $2.75 minimum levy per $100 assessed valuation. Beginning Sept. 1, 1994, any school district that does not have a levy of at least $2.75 will not receive any of the additional $315 million in state aid provided by the new law.
SIKESTON - Early morning negotiations between Falcon Cable Television and WPSD, a Paducah, Ky., NBC affiliate, resulted in a temporary agreement that will keep the network on the air in Sikeston.
