SANDUSKY, Ill. - Joseiphine Merriweather, 73, died Oct. 14, 2003, at her home.
Born Nov. 28, 1929, in Sunflower, Miss., daughter of the late Willie and Callie Rodgers Seals, she lived in Illinois for more than 55 years. She was a retired cook and member of Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Sandusky.
Her husband, Fletcher Merriweather, survives of the home.
Other survivors include: seven sons and three daughters-in-law, Elijah and Elaine Brown Jr. of Chester, Ovell and Frances Brown and Jerome Merriweather of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Savoy Merriweather of St. Louis, Mo., Harvey and Clarissa Merriweather of Villa Ridge, Wesley Merriweather of Oakland, Calif., and Johnny Warren of Tamms; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Elizabeth and N.C. Bowen of Alamo, Tenn., Linda Newell of Cairo, Deborah Merriweather of Bloomington, Glena Merriweather of Tamms and Callie and Robert Ramsey of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Irene Lott and Elizabeth English of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mae Ella Cassell and Esther B. Gillespie of Charleston, Mo.; and 39 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. Robert L. James, pastor, and her nephew, the Rev. Stephen Lott of Cleveland will officiate.
Burial will follow in Spencer Heights Memorial Park at Mounds.
