The Lady Bulldogs struggled in doubles, but won four out of six singles matches to seal the victory.
"The girls played exceptional in today's match," said Sikeston coach Lynne DeWitt. "The girls were up against different opponents, yet they played their hardest and we came out on top."
In varsity singles, Elizabeth Killion beat Kennett's Brea Rose 8-2. In the second spot, Lindsay Leible defeated Kennett's Suzanne Carter 8-3.
In the third spot, Charlie Richey lost 6-8 to Kennett's Charla Chilland. At No. 4, Jeri Nichols defeated Kennett's Haylee Hent 8-6. In the fifth spot, Chelsea Gilliland beat Kennett's Whitney Bruce 8-3, then Jessica Colwick lost 1-8 to Kennett's Katie Potts.
In varsity doubles, Killion and Leible beat Carter and Chilland 8-6. Richey and Nichols lost 4-8 to Rose and Hent, then Gilliland and Emily Bowman lost 4-8 to Bruce and Potts.
Sikeston will have its last home match of the season on Monday, hosting Cape Central at 4 p.m. The district will be in Sikeston on Thursday, starting at 9 a.m.
In Thursday's junior varsity match, Kennett defeated Sikeston 8-1. The Lady Bulldogs' only victory came from Brittney Bohannon, who beat Emily Earnest 6-2. Other Sikeston players that lost were Bowman, Lindsay James, Hallie Lambert, Ellie Hensley and Brittney Bard.
