SIKESTON - Mrs. C.E. Robbs had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Van Robbs and children, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hawkins and son, Needola Bledsoe of New Madrid and Herman Ray of Greensville, Pa.

SIKESTON - Miss Marjorie Cooney, New York representative of the Community Concert Association, sounded the note for the annual drive opening, which will continue through Oct. 19. Eighty campaign workers met at the Sikeston Country Club on Monday evening for their annual campaign dinner.

SIKESTON - The Rev. David William Blackburn was recently ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in an ordination ceremony conducted at the Southwest Church of the Nazarene in St. Louis. Blackburn was graduated from Sikeston High School in 1977 and from Mid-America Nazarene College at Olathe, Kan., in 1981. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Blackburn.

NEW MADRID - The Dixie Players will present their "Harvest Homecoming" at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Dixie Theatre with a wide variety of music planned.


KENNETT - Bulldogs senior cross country runner Jamie Gooch locked up his first SEMO Conference title on Thursday, besting his nearest competitor by nearly 20 seconds. Gooch covered the 5K course in a time of 16.21 while Jackson's Reed Kramer was second at 16.41. Jackson, however, won the team title, while Sikeston did not have enough runners for the team competition.


SIKESTON - The Sikeston freshman football team kept its record unblemished with a 22-20 win over the previously undefeated Cape Central Tigers on Thursday night.
