SPRINGFIELD -- Sikeston freshman tennis player Jenni DeWitt lost her first two matches in the Class 1 singles tournament in Springfield on Friday.
DeWitt lost her first match to Thomas Jefferson High's Felicia Owen, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
She was then defeated in the consolation first round by Visitation Academy's Courtney Reeve, 6-3, 6-0.
In doubles action, Dexter's Molly Jarrell and Amanda Dooley were beaten in the first round 7-6, 7-5 by St. Joseph Lafayette's Heather Miner and Lauren Shroyer. They were then ousted by John Burroughs' Ali King and Suzanna Stroganova, 6-3, 6-4.
