A Sikeston Public Works crew looks over damage to the bridge crossing the lateral ditch near the intersection of Ables and South Ingram Monday. A motorist's four-wheel drive truck reportedly lost its brakes, left the roadway and mowed down a street sign before hooking the guard rail and mangling it on the way through the ditch alongside the bridge, according to Trey Hardy, streets superintendent. The vehicle left the ditch on its own power and its driver reported the accident upon arriving at a friend's house, Hardy said.
