MOREHOUSE - Ulah "Doody" Pitts, 89, died Feb. 26, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 16, 1915, in Salcedo, daughter of the late Lester and Golda Fansler Newton, she moved from Morehouse to Oregon in 1941 and returned to Morehouse in 1972, where she was a member of the Rauch-Spence Memorial United Methodist Church.

In 1941, she married William Lewis Pitts who died in January 1972.

Survivors include: five nephews, John Newton and Mike Newton of Sikeston, Pat Newton of Essex, Ronnie Bryant of Youngsville, La., and Glen Bryant of Salem, Ill.; and five nieces, Murlene Fulkerson of Olive Branch, Miss., Joy Appleton of Sikeston, Judy Cole of Pevely, Donna Bryant of Memphis, Tenn., and Tonna Vails of Morehouse.

Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. The Rev. Marty Blakey of Chaffee will officiate.
