COLUMBIA, Ill. -- Cassie Lee Greer became the bride of Aaron Andrew Akin in a 5:30 p.m. outdoor ceremony on July 10, 2004, at The Falls Conference Center in Columbia. The Rev. Darrell Faires Sr. performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Marty Greer of Leslie, Mo., and the late Arnold Greer. She is the granddaughter of Morton and Marian Anderson of Gerald, Mo.
Parents of the bridegroom are Dewey and Janice Akins of Decatur and he is the grandson of Mary L. Akins of New Madrid, Mo., and Dorothy Richards of Decatur.
Given in marriage by her mother, the bride was escorted by Brian Murphy, friend of the family. She wore a white strapless satin gown designed with organza overlay of floral beading, accented with a banded hemline and bodice. The three-quarter length veil was complemented with a beaded edge to match her bridal gown. Her bouquet was a cascade arrangement of white calla lilies and red gerbera daisies accented with dendrobium orchids, bear grass and greenery.
Tiffany Bailey attended the bride as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Emily Akins Cole, Megan Neier, Carey Copeland and Katherine Murphy. The bridesmaids wore red satin dresses accented with beaded trim and short organza trains. They carried clutches of red gerbera daisies with accents of white and green tied with red organza bows.
Bryan Horsey served the bridegroom as best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Cole, Jason Axelrod, Steve Inman and Tim Harms. Ushers were Lynn Akins and Charles Richards.
The couple sailed on the Legend of the Seas from San Diego to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on a seven night cruise.
A graduate of Union High School, the bride graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor's double major in criminal justice and psychology. She is an assistant residence hall director and completing her master of arts degree in student affairs administration in higher education at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
The bridegroom graduated from the Stephen Decatur High School. He earned a bachelors degree in information management from Western Illinois University and is in the master of business administration program at Ball State, where he is a graduate assistant.
Mr. and Mrs. Akins are residing in Muncie.
