Doris Owens

EAST PRAIRIE - Doris E. Owens, 71, died Oct. 12, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 25, 1932, near East Prairie, daughter of the late Fayette and Christine Marshall, she served as East Prairie city collector for nearly 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Prairie.

In 1952, she married Bobby C. Owens who preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2002.

Survivors include: two sons, Bobby Steven Owens of Titusville, Fla., and Gary Allan Owens of Williamsburg, Iowa; three brothers, Ross Marshall, Billy Marshall and Dennis Marshall; three sisters, Ruth Brown of Charleston and Joy Ivie and Brenda Holdiness of East Prairie; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joni Ellen Owens on July 26, 1990; and one sister, Judy Bowen.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in East Prairie.

Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
