SIKESTON - A Western Auto Store will open in the former City Drug Store vacancy about Nov. 1, under the management of L.F. "Bob" Tyrone, who was associated with the Southern Stores in Sikeston until he left them Tuesday to make preparations for opening the new store.

SIKESTON - The United Fund of Sikeston, as of today, has reached one fourth of its quota of $39,600, it was announced today by Herschel Tyer, who with Earl Jarvis, is co-chairman of the year's campaign. It was also reported that nine firms and/or offices have signed up 100 percent of personnel and employers.

SIKESTON - Carolyn Lee will assume the duties of composing room supervisor next week, replacing Janet Storey, who will become production manager of a Wisconsin newspaper, according to Ralph Gastelum, general manager and publisher of The Daily Standard. Mrs. Lee has been employed at The Daily Standard in the composing department a total of 17 years. Her husband, Charles Lee, is pressroom foreman at The Daily Standard. She has two daughters, Angie, 16, and Laurie, 15.

SIKESTON - Elizabeth Farrenburg of Sikeston , daughter of Larry and Cindy Farrenburg, was recently named Miss Scott County. Her court included: Julie Stallings of East Prairie, first alternate; and Ruthie Tipton of Marble Hill, second alternate.
