SIKESTON -- T.J. LaPlant, 73, died Oct. 20, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Jan. 23, 1930, in the Barnes Ridge community, son of the late John William and Anna Combs LaPlant, he was employed by Little Construction and was of the Baptist belief. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of the Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 and Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319.
Survivors include: one son, Thomas LaPlant of Purcell, Okla.; one brother, John William LaPlant Jr. of Othello, Wash.; one sister, Frances Britt of Sikeston; one stepbrother, Joe Davis of DuQuoin, Ill.; one stepsister, Barbara Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; and a special friend, Marie Little of Sikeston.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. John Tartar, pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Miner, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery at Matthews.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Floyd, Chester Kordahl, Gene Stroud, Charles Meunier, Larry Fetters and David Fetters.
