DEXTER - Van Harris Kilmer, 65, died April 19, 2005 at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Dec. 4, 1939, in Dexter to the late Roy and Mayme Harris Kilmer, he was a resident of Dexter most of his life moving to Sikeston in 2001. A 1964 graduate of Murray State College in Murray, Ky., he was a retired MFA insurance agent, a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
On Jan. 27, 1967, in Dexter he married Mary Ann Merriman, who survives of Sikeston.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Lankheit of Sikeston and one grandson, Thomas Lankheit of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence "Froggie" Kilmer, on May 17, 1975.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter until time for services at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Mike Watkins of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
