Sikeston eighth grade team wins; Portageville rolls

KENNETT -- The Sikeston eighth grade basketball team improved to 8-0 on the season with a 45-20 road victory against Kennett on Tuesday.

Sikeston jumped out to a 21-7 first quarter lead and extended it to 32-13 by halftime.

They pushed ahead to 43-17 heading into the fourth quarter.

Sikeston was led by Eli Jackson with 19 points and Dwayne Harris with 14 points. Jaqualin Wiggins had seven points, Colton Young added four points and Niquavious Dixon scored one point.

Sikeston lost the "B" game 36-34 to Kennett, 36-34.

C.J. Council led the team with eight points. Dario Lewis and Deadrian Griffin each had six points. Corey Simmons had five points, Jarian Wims had four points and Nikko Galang had three points. Chris Benford added two points.

Sikeston will play at Charleston tomorrow.

Portageville 71, C'ville 46

Portageville led 34-24 at halftime and blew the game open in the second half to improve to 7-5 on the season and 3-1 in the Bootheel Conference.

Trey Mosby led Portageville with 24 points. Marcus Greene had 14 points, Cory Chamberlain added 13 points and Tony Brown had 10 points.

Chris Thomas led Caruthersville with 16 points. Kendrickus Reed scored nine points.

Clarkton 86, Risco 85

CLARKTON - The Risco Tigers boys basketball team lost a heart-breaker at Clarkton on Tuesday night, 86-85.

Senior Andrew Halford scored 16 of 32 points in the fourth quarter for Risco, but it wasn't enough as Clarkton's Matt Trudell hit a running shot in the lane with three seconds remaining, to win the game for the Reindeer.

"We played a good game tonight," said Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship. "Tough loss for the kids, but they have nothing to be ashamed of."

Trudell was a tough guard all night for the Tigers. Of Trudell's 28 points in the game, 14 came in the first quarter as he drained four 3-pointers.

The Tigers stayed in the contest late with excellent foul shooting. As a team, Risco was 16-for-19 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Steven White pumped in 17 points for Clarkton. Devaris Parker and Tyler Criglar chipped in nine apiece for the Reindeer.

Robert Fowler and Rodulfo Johnson scored 14 points apiece for the Tigers. Ricky Davis had 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers for Risco.

Risco (4-7) will host the undefeated Campbell Camels on Friday night.

STE GENEVIEVE -- Notre Dame had five scorers in double figures in an offensive explosion on the road.

Kirk Boeller led the Bulldogs (14-1) with 20 points, Ryan Willen had 18, Xavier Delph added 15.

JACKSON -- Jackson led by just five points at halftime before pouring it on in the third quarter in a home win.

Kyle Pridemore led Jackson (13-3) with 19 points, and Aaron Redecker and Hunter Grantham had 17 points apiece.

ADVANCE -- Advance scored 81 points through three quarters in a home win.

Alex Steil led Advance (8-5) with 27 points and Daryl Wade had 17.

Steven Dooley scored 26 points for Chaffee (3-8).

ORAN -- Oran used a 23-6 scoring edge in the second quarter to cruise at home.

Steven Mock and Robert Lange had 20 points apiece for Oran (5-7). Chris Asmus added 16 points for Oran and Kody Campbell had 12.
