Preliminary hearing for alleged child molestor has been continued to Oct. 1

Thursday, August 28, 2003

BENTON - A preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday in Scott County Associate Court for Jack Pruitt of Sikeston. The case was continued to Oct. 1 so the Missouri attorney general can enter his appearance.

Pruitt is charged with one count of first degree child molestation, possession of child pornography and 17 counts of first degree statutory sodomy.

The original charges came after a 5-year-old child was molested while spending the night with the suspect.

A search of his residence yielded the discovery of sexually explicit photos as well as other items that will be used to prosecute Pruitt.
