BENTON - Lillie M. Welter, 88, died at 11:45 a.m. July 30, 2003, at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 4, 1915, in Commerce, daughter of the late Nick and Nellie Arnold LeDure, she was a lifelong resident of the Benton and New Hamburg communities. She had been employed by the Ely Walker Co. in Scott City and was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, the Altar Society, Home and School and American Legion Auxiliary.
On Jan. 24, 1933, at New Hamburg, she married Victor Louis Welter who preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1975.
Survivors include: seven sons, Jerome Welter of Fredericktown, Gary Welter of Cape Girardeau, Larry Welter of St. Louis, Charles Welter of Sikeston and Marion Welter, Dudley Welter and Michael Welter of Benton; four daughters, Patricia Peters of Marble Hill, Gerri Lawson of Cape Girardeau, Linda Mungle of Benton and Vicki Wilson of Dexter; and 34 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, DeWayne Welter in 1987; and three brothers and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Benton Chapel, where parish prayers are scheduled for 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Denis Cemetery.
