SIKESTON - Franklin P. Owen, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Ed Owen, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, has been promoted to captain. His parents were informed this week.

MOREHOUSE - Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Stephens had a houseful of guests this weekend. Their guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Stephens, Bonna and Philip Stephens and Owl Stephens, all of St. Louis; Mrs. Martha Wilening and children of Matthews; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Drake of Canalou.

SIKESTON - Members of the medical profession and their guests attended a meeting Wednesday night at the Ramada Inn with the main focus on the Cat-Scan mobile unit. The major purpose of the meeting was to make a formal informational presentation of the scanner to the medical community, and especially to the doctors who are unfamiliar with how it can be used. The fifth generation mobile scanner, according to Dr. David Pfefferkorn, fills the void for smaller hospitals that cannot afford one.

ADVANCE - The SEMO 4-H Rodeo Club recently passed out its circuit honors for the season. Winning the all-around cowgirl award was Bloomfield's Jamie Wilkinson, with all-around cowboy honors going to Jason Griffin of Advance. Both compete for the Stoddard County Club.

SIKESTON - Mykah Bryan was crowned Petite Miss Scott County. Mykah is the daughter of Mike and Betty Bryan of Sikeston. Her court included: Kellye Rhea Ann Penn, daughter of Rob and Susan Penn, first alternate; and Jaime Jackson, second alternate, daughter of Kenny and Lynne Jackson.
