SIKESTON - Ben F. Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Carroll Sr. of Sikeston, who is serving in the Navy, recently went to a servicemen's center in Australia. While there, he met a girl who knew Sikeston resident Ray Allen Moll, who was also in Australia at the time.

DONIPHAN - Mrs. Eugene Ramsey of Doniphan has been employed as a part-time district advisor for the Cotton Boll Area Girl Scout Council.

SIKESTON - Tory Robertson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Robertson, was honored Tuesday on her fourth birthday at the home of her parents.

SIKESTON - Commencing Wednesday, County Line Road will be closed from Andrea to Ashley Drive for street reconstruction.

BLOOMFIELD - Construction is under way for the addition to the Stoddard County Jail at Bloomfield. Bridger Construction Co. of Sikeston began excavation of the lot for the addition last week.

WASHINGTON - "This is really where it's happening," Christa Engberg of Sikeston concluded during her first visit to the nation's capital. After five days of introduction to virtually every aspect of government, Engberg should know. She is one of 350 high schoolers observing the workings of Washington at the National Young Leaders Conference, which ends today.

COMMERCE - Roy Jones of Commerce jokingly offered his house for sale on Tuesday. The structure, ironically located on Water Street, became riverfront property when the small community flooded earlier this month.
