Capitola Melton

ARNOLD -- Capitola W. Melton, 92, formerly of Charleston, died at 6:40 p.m. March 31, 2003, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.

Born March 26, 1911, in Charleston, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth Austin White, she was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston. She lived most of her life in St. Louis and resided at the South County Manor in Arnold since 1995.

On Jan. 4, 1931, she married Royal Franklin Melton who preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1984.

Survivors include: one daughter, Phyllis Myers of Arnold; one half sister, Beverly Salzmann of Clark Ridge, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

One son, Clifford Dean Melton, preceded her in death in 1965.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until service time at 11 a.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near Charleston.
