MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Virginia Whitehead Bumbarger 91, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died July 24, 2003, at the Allen Morgan Health Center in Memphis.

Born April 21, 1912, in West Point, Miss., daughter of the late William Cary and Roberta Harseim Whitehead, she was a member of Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church in Sikeston.

On June 15, 1934, in West Point, she married Paul R. Bumbarger, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1999.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Barclay Van Doren of Cameron, Mont.; one brother, Cary Whitehead of Memphis; two grandchildren, Clay Van Doren and Dr. Virginia Cary Van Doren of Denver, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Madison Van Doren, Caelen Van Doren and Hayden Van Doren of Denver.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Herrman.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Rufus McLean, pastor of Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
