SIKESTON - A record was established at Sikeston Community Hospital during the month of June when 140 patients were admitted, according to Otto Mundorf, superintendent. This indicates the need for greater hospital facilities in the community.

BENTON - On the whole, Scott County's corn, cotton and soybean crops are in fine shape, according to Top Stroup, agriculture agent. But more rain would make the picture brighter.

SIKESTON - On Sept. 10, 1991, J.T. Anderson stepped off a plane in South Korea and changed his life forever. A 21-year-old member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Anderson just returned from a two-year, seven-city volunteer mission to Korea. While there, he said, he learned the language, preached and learned a lot about life.


CHARLESTON - The rising Mississippi River and heavy rains to the north will have an adverse impact locally, particularly to farmland. The Mississippi County Commission on Thursday discussed the probabilities and agreed there is no immediate threat.
