LENEXA, Kan. -- Leah Nicole Walters and Heath August Ruchotzke were married in a 2 p.m. ceremony May 31, 2003, at the Lenexa Christian Center. The Rev. Mike Purkey, senior pastor, performed the ceremony and was assisted by the Rev. Kirk Ruchotzke, father of the bridegroom. Michelle Newton of Sikeston, Mo., cousin of the bride, read scriptures for the occasion.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Deane IV of Sikeston and granddaughter of Ann Mitchell, Bill and Ginny Deane and Louis Walters of Sikeston.

Parents of the bridegroom are the Rev. and Mrs. Kirk Ruchotzke of Overland Park. He is the grandson of the late Ruth Ruchotzke.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Sarah Selleck of the Kansas City area attended her sister as matron of honor. Maid of honor was Jennifer Plush and bridesmaids were Heather Atchison and Liza Mayer, all of the Kansas City area. Hannah Pinson and Audrey Whitten of Sikeston, niece of the bride, were flower girls.

Matt Purkey served his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Josh Ruchotzke and Jacob Ruchotzke, brothers of the bridegroom and Richard Selleck, brother-in-law of the bride. All are of the Kansas City area. Ring bearer was Max Pinson of Leawood.

Ushers were Will Deane and Clay Deane of Sikeston, brothers of the bride; Paul Martinez of Denton, Texas, cousin-in-law of the bridegroom; Joey Watkins of Sikeston, Shawn Johnson of Wisconsin and Ryan Levine of Overland Park.

Candlelighters were Nicole Selleck of Lenexa, niece of the bride and Clark Davis of Dallas, Texas, cousin of the bridegroom.

Emily Luttrell and Jessica Dibben of Olathe were program attendants. Guest book attendants were Lauren Deane of Sikeston, sister of the bride and Mackenzie Koch of Marion, Iowa, cousin of the bridegroom.

The bride is a recent honors graduate of the School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A graduate of the Kansas City Christian Academy and former U.S. Marine, the bridegroom is employed by Cingular Wireless. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Following a honeymoon trip to Florida, the couple is making their home in Lenexa.
