VANDUSER - The casualty list reported Tuesday by the War Department included the name of Pvt. Richard Glasscock of Vanduser. He is listed as missing in action in the Mediterranean Theater of the war. His father, John W. Glasscock, lives in Vanduser.


SIKESTON - The honor roll for the third quarter at Sikeston has been announced and include seniors: Mary Ellen Bailey, John Boardman, Phil Bowman, Eloise Coots, Ivena Gimlin, Jeanne Jackson, Glenda Keller, Dorothy Marshall, Pauline Sheperd, Grace Sitzes and Louse Skelton.

SIKESTON - The Carousel Day School is now a thriving little institution. The building was completed about March 1 and the playground will be finished this week. The new school is the idea of Sam Harbin and associates, who include: Dan Norton, Norman Spitzmiller, John Harper, Bert Rowe Jr. and Lucien Stoner.

SIKESTON - Jack Sargent of South Bend, Ind., has been appointed director of public works/city engineer for Sikeston, effective May 7.

SIKESTON - Mike Moll, a councilman for two years and business man for 14, is Sikeston's new mayor. In a brief reorganizational council meeting Monday, Moll's fellow members elected him mayor. The one-year post was last filled by Charles Leible, a Sikeston attorney.


SIKESTON - Matt Vowels, 1994-95 president of the Sikeston Jaycees, presented the Outstanding Young Educator of the Year Award to Jim Groner Saturday at the annual Sikeston Jaycee Installation Banquet. Hank Trout was awarded the Young Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award.
