EAST PRAIRIE - The Delta Lady Bobcats softball team improved to 5-3 on the season with a 4-2 road victory against East Prairie on Tuesday.

Sarah Cook was the winning pitcher, throwing seven innings and allowing two runs (one earned) off six hits and two walks. She struck out five.

"That's a good win for us," said Delta coach Laura Brown. "Last year we only won by one run and we faced the same pitcher. Sarah struggled today, she's usually a lot tighter and on top of her game. She had to rely on her defense to pick her up."

Delta scored one run in the first and two in the third to take a 3-0 lead. East Prairie came back with two runs in the bottom of the third but they couldn't tie it.

Delta added an insurance run in the seventh to reach the final margin.

Lydia Thomure was the losing pitcher for East Prairie. She allowed eight walks and six hits in seven innings. She also struck out five.

Delta was led offensively by Shea Smith's two hits. Kaci Menz had one hit and three stolen bases. Kayla Seabaugh had an RBI and Kacie Seabaugh had a double and an RBI. Cook added two stolen bases.

Woodward led East Prairie with two hits, including a double.

Delta will play at Naylor on Friday at 4 p.m.
