Ernest Ivy

CHARLESTON - Ernest Ivy, 72, died Feb. 27, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born July 20, 1931, in rural Charleston, son of the late Berry and Lula Scaife Ivy, he attended local public schools and was a corporal with the U.S. Army from 1952-54. He was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Wyatt.

On Nov. 29, 1975, he married Vernice Treadwell who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: seven daughters, Linda Courtney, Brenda Watson, Ernestine Watson and Lois Ivy of Chicago, Hattie Brown and Michelle Coleman of Charleston and Ader Jackson of Sikeston; three sons, Fred Ivy of Chicago, Joe Treadwell and Mitchell Treadwell of Charleston; three brothers, Percy Ivy of Charleston, Johnnie A. Ivy of Chicago and Ervin Ivy of Memence, Ill.; one sister, Thelma Offord of Charleston; and 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from noon Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Wyatt. Elder Limmie D. Pulliam, pastor, will officiate.

Military graveside rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Williams Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
