Curtis Payne

WHITEWATER - C. Curtis Payne, 74, died at 6:18 a.m. Jan. 27, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born April 25, 1929, son of the late Guy and Katie Kirk Payne, he graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He retired as a civil engineer and track supervisor for the Frisco Railway Company in Chaffee and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Whitewater.

On March 14, 1969, he married Francine Whitesell.

Survivors include: two sons, Paul D. Payne of Cape Girardeau and Danny C. Payne of Columbia, Tenn.; one sister, Louise Toole of Evansville, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Phil Berry will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
