A male husky mix puppy, believed to be about 8 months old, was dropped off at the night delivery box at the shelter between 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was in very poor physical condition when workers at the shelter found him early Wednesday.
After being examined by an area veterinarian, it was determined that the animal was suffering with a staph infection and had been severely burned, possibly with a homemade remedy for mange.
Also abandoned with the dog was another puppy, believed to be around 8 weeks old. The puppy is also suffering with a staph infection, which is highly contagious.
Anyone with information is asked to call Gabby Evans at the shelter, 471-4801. All information will be kept confidential.
