BRADENTON, Fla. -- Brooke Allison Lemmons and Shawn Thomas Deal exchanged wedding vows in a 7 p.m. ceremony Aug. 2, 2003, on Bradenton Beach, Anna Maria Island, in Bradenton. Holly Hillgardner of Fort Worth, Texas, friend of the bride, performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Glenn and Nancy Lemmons of Sikeston, Mo., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Parker of Borger, Texas, C.G. Lemmons of Sikeston and the late Marjorie Lemmons.
Parents of the bridegroom are Tom and Belinda Deal of Cookeville, Tenn. He is the grandson of Horace and Arlene McDole and Ann Deal of Sparta, Tenn., and the late Walter Deal.
Barrett Lemmons, brother of the bride, and the bridegroom's father, served as readers for the ceremony. The bride's uncle, Thom Lemmons of Abilene, Texas, read a story he wrote for the occasion, and Matthew Hargrove, cousin of the bride, read a poem.
The bride's father, her aunt, Gay Hargrove of Cookeville and her uncle, Thom Lemmons sang, "Wither Thou Goest." The bride's father and brother, Barrett Lemmons, also sang, "Hallowed." Providing music for the ceremony was Drew Hargrove of Cookeville, cousin of the bride.
Designed by Watters and Watters, the bride's ivory silk, satin, strapless gown featured an overlay of two layers of silk organza that formed the sheer train. The high waist was accented with velvet ribbon. The bride wore the veil her mother wore at her wedding.
Bridesmaids were the bride's cousins, Becca Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., and Sara Erger of Cookeville. Barrett Lemmons, Logan Lemmons of Knoxville and Ross Lemmons of Sikeston stood beside their sister for the ceremony.
Groomsmen were Barry Greene and Justin Averitt of Boulder, Colo., and Nate Patterson of Cookeville. Evan Smith of Knoxville, cousin of the bride, served as ring bearer.
A reception was held in an outdoor pavilion at the Beach House Restaurant on Bradenton Beach. A rehearsal dinner was held Aug. 1 at the Bungalows Beach Resort on Bradenton Beach. The couple was honored with a reception Oct. 10, 2003, in Cookeville hosted by Sara Eger and Gay Hargrove.
The new Mrs. Deal is currently pursuing a doctorate in biblical interpretation-Hebrew Bible and is employed with the athletic department at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She is also an editorial assistant for the journal, Forum, and a graduate assistant for the head of the religion department at TCU.
Deal is employed with Roane Engineers in Dallas, Texas.
Following a trip to Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Deal are making their home in Fort Worth.
