NEW HAMBURG -- Leonna Danielle Essner and Dean Patrick Heuring exchanged wedding vows in a 1 p.m. Oct. 4, 2003, ceremony before Monsignor Philip Bucher of Branson, great-uncle of the bride, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. The Rev. Normand Varone, pastor of St. Lawrence, assisted.
The bride is the daughter of Tim and Jeanne Essner of New Hamburg and the granddaughter of Corona "Coonie" Essner of Cape Girardeau, Dale and Dotty Huff of Benton and the late Leon Essner.
Parents of the bridegroom are Joe and Margaret Heuring of New Hamburg. He is the grandson of Bill Chapman of Chaffee and the late LaRue Chapman and Lawrence and Clara Heuring.
Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Cheryl Kern of New Hamburg, trumpeter Craig Arnzen of Kelso and vocalists Jimmy Simmons of Benton, Kari Lape of Chaffee and J.R. Bollinger of Nashville, Tenn., friend of the bride. Song selections included "A Moment Like This," "You Had Me From Hello," "You and I" and "When You Say Nothing At All."
Lectors for the occasion were Ashley Barnett of Scott City, niece of the bridegroom, and Ashley Dirnberger of Nashville, friend of the bride. Servers were Tyler Heuring of New Hamburg and Caleb Seyer of Oran.
Megan Beggs of Benton, niece of the bridegroom; Brant Heuring of Benton, nephew of the bridegroom; and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Heuring of Scott City, godparents of the bridegroom, were gift bearers. Eucharistic ministers were Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Essner of Dexter, uncle and aunt of the bride. A closing prayer was given by the bride's grandfather, Rev. Dale Huff.
Michelle Silman of Benton served her cousin as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Andrea Essner of Providence, R.I., cousin of the bride; Kristina Roslen of Sikeston, friend of the bride; Kari Wilhelm of New Hamburg and Kim Ziegler of Kelso, sisters of the bride; and Sheila Beggs of Benton, sister of the bridegroom.
Flower girls were Addison Ziegler, niece of the bride and daughter of Kim and Brian Ziegler of Kelso, and Emma Wilhelm, niece of the bride and daughter of Kari and James Wilhelm of New Hamburg.
Anne Ziegler, niece of the bride and daughter of Kim and Brian Ziegler, served as the miniature bride. Candle lighters were Andrea Heisserer of Cape Girardeau, Vanessa Morgan of Benton, Lyndsey Mosby of McClure, Ill., and Erin Hamm of New Hamburg, friends of the bride.
Danny Simpher of New Hamburg attended his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Neal Kern, Johnny Kern, Travis Green and Dale Kern of New Hamburg, friends of the bridegroom; and Eric Beardslee of Oran, friend of the bridegroom.
Ringbearer was Jaxon Van Pelt, great-nephew of the bridegroom and son of Megan Beggs and Billy Van Pelt of Benton. Ushers were Darrell Heuring of New Hamburg, cousin of the bridegroom; David Beussink of Bloomington, Ill., cousin of the bridegroom; and Ray Glastetter and Chris Seyer of Benton, friends of the bridegroom.
Guest book attendant was Suzanne Urhahn of Benton, friend of the bride, and program attendants were Brittney Heuring and Whitney Beggs of Benton, nieces of the bridegroom. Tiffany Glastetter of New Hamburg, friend of the bride, was wedding facilitator.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the St. Lawrence Alois Stevens Parish Center.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted Oct. 3 at the parish center by the couple's parents.
Mrs. Heuring received a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Southeast Missouri State University and is a reporter for the Standard Democrat in Sikeston.
Heuring is parts manager for Mid-America Power Equipment Inc. in Cape Girardeau.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Heuring are making their home in New Hamburg.
