SIKESTON -The Missouri Delta Community Hospital Association has received assurance that the hospital to be built here following the war, through the Commonwealth Fund, will be the finest ever built by this group in a small community. More than $300,000 is available for the building of the hospital in Sikeston and the necessary planning is now going forward so that all will be ready when the hospital can be built.

SIKESTON - Lynn Twitty, superintendent of schools, was elected to the executive committee of the Missouri Association of School Administrators at the annual meeting in Columbia.

CHARLESTON - Five persons were taken into custody Saturday night at the Wal-Mart store in Charleston Shopping Plaza. It appears the five persons may have been taking items from Wal-Mart stores and then seeking refunds on the stolen items.

NEW MADRID - Ice cakes along the shores of the Mississippi River at New Madrid. In the Bootheel, the river traffic easily breaks through the ice flow; however on the river between Cairo, Ill., and St. Louis the Coast Guard has restricted the size of barge tows due to heavy ice float.

SIKESTON - Winners of the Miss Sikeston Winter Princess Scholarship Pageant are Leigh Ann Wilkins, a graduate student at Arkansas State University, Miss Sikeston Winter Princess; Jennifer Telker, a student at Arkansas State University, first alternate; Angela Johnson, a student at Lincoln University, second alternate; Paula LaBrot, a student at the University of Mississippi, third alternate; and Tricia Holt, a student at Southwest Missouri State University, fourth alternate;
