SIKESTON - Carlton F. Adams, 78, died Jan. 24, 2004, at the John Cochran Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born Oct. 3, 1925, in Plumerville, Ark., son of the late Clarence F. and Grace C. Campbell Adams, he was a teacher for New Madrid Public Schools and was of the Baptist belief. A sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 in Poplar Bluff and Amvets Post 149, VFW Post 3174 and Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston.
On April 15, 1976, in Bertrand, he married Pauline Morris who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Franklin C. Adams of Sikeston and John F. Adams of Brilliant, Ala.; two daughters, Teri D. Heede of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Bretta L. Adams of Brilliant; one stepson, Michael Sidsney of Bertrand; one stepdaughter, Donna Delgado of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Charles E. Adams of Senath; and 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One son and one brother preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Lee Fansler will officiate.
The Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
