SIKESTON - Charles French had his left ankle broken Wednesday during a physical education class held on the campus at the high school.

SIKESTON - Jacqueline Scott, a native of Sikeston and a well known television actress, has returned for a two week visit with her mother, Mrs. Maxine Scott. She is better known to her friends and admirers in Sikeston as "Jackie."

SIKESTON - Four candidates are competing for the two seats on the Sikeston City Council in Tuesday's city election, while Miner has contests for mayor and both aldermen positions. Jean Collins tallied the most votes in Sikeston's February primary election to gain a spot in the runoff voting. The other three candidates making the runoff are Allen Blanton, Kenneth Bridger and June Freshour. In Miner, Mayor Bill James is being opposed by Ward One Alderman L.F. Wheeler for the mayor's seat.

SIKESTON - The Bulldogs gave it all they had but they still lost to the Cape Central Tigers. It was just barely though. Coming away with a 9-8 loss, the Bulldogs weren't beat by that much.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Lion's Club will sponsor Allan C. Hill's Great American Circus for two performances at the old Cotton Oil Mill property off Malone Avenue. The show will feature traditional circus clowns, exotic animals and daredevil entertainers. It promises to be a whole lot of fun for all.


SIKESTON - While the idea of resurrecting the Dunn Hotel lingers in the mind of developer Michael Fisher, the ancient building may be headed for a permanent grave.
