"This was a quality win today," said Sikeston coach Brian James. "I think, overall, it was probably the best match we've played all year. It was windy, but we adjusted pretty well today."
Sikeston's win marked the second time this season the Bulldogs have defeated the Bearcats.
"Dexter is very competitive," James said. "They have several basketball players off their state team and those kids really know how to compete and they gave us good, hard matches all day long. The score today was not indicative of how close a lot of these matches were."
With the win, Sikeston now stands at 8-1 on the season.
"I think we made some strides today," James said.
"(Thursday's) a tough one at Cape, then we have the Poplar Bluff Tournament on Saturday, so we've got a lot of tennis to play in the next week or so."
Sikeston will travel to Cape today for a 4 p.m. match.
