EAST PRAIRIE - Norman Lee Brooks, 66, died Dec. 10, 2003, at his home.
Born Dec. 11, 1936, in Ridgeley, Tenn., son of the late Robert Everett and Bertha Mae Hardin Brooks, he had lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he was a self-employed carpenter. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was of the Baptist belief.
On May 7, 1959, at East Prairie, he married Nancy Janet Cogdill who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, William Earl Brooks of East Prairie; one daughter, Laura Ann Owens of East Prairie; one brother, Otis Brooks of East Prairie; two sisters, Reva Parker and Laverne Pritchett of East Prairie; and two grandchildren, Mary Ann Bell and Scottie Owens of East Prairie.
One brother, Earl Brooks, and two sisters, Helen Brooks and Hazel Parnell, preceded him in death.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. Dale Billingsley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Pallbearers will be: Jack McIntosh, Sid Patrick, Joe Jenkins, Coy Redfering, Freddie Portwood and Obrey Cogdill.
