EAST PRAIRIE - Claude A. Cox, 92, died at 8:05 p.m. Feb. 24, 2004, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 16, 1911, in Butler County, son of the late Wilford and Mary Forkham Cox, he lived in Mississippi and Butler counties all his life. He was a truck driver for Hefner Furniture Company before retiring and was a member of the Oneness Pentecostal Church in East Prairie.
On Oct. 30, 1965, he married Nola E. Anderson who preceded him in death on May 20, 1973.
Survivors include: one sister, Jane Lawson of Kirksville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Barbara Stovall of Sikeston.
Also preceding him in death were five stepsons, George Lytle, James Lytle, Sam McClung, Edward McClung and Paul McClung; one stepdaughter, Helen Magee; two brothers, Audrey Cox and Earl Cox; and three sisters, Inez Nadine Webb, Ruby Christine and Viva Vancil Cox.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Friday until service time at 11 a.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Steve Vester, pastor of the Old Bethel Baptist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Brown Chapel Cemetery near Fisk.
