SIKESTON - It was announced today that Homer and Jethro will appear at the 12th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Sept. 11-13. The witty duo, known for slaughtering popular music in the funniest way, promises to keep all four rodeo crowds laughing and singing with them from the time they start till who knows when? They have had eight RCA record albums and have delighted audiences of every age across the country.

SIKESTON -George Strait was the featured entertainer at the sellout performance Saturday evening of the 32nd Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. Strait performed such hits as "If You're Thinkin' You Want a Stranger" and "Down and Out," while Conway Twitty thrilled the crowd Sunday afternoon with hits such as "Tight Fitting Jeans" and "Slow Hand." According to Steve Forbis, rodeo board president, approximately 30,000 persons attended the four performances.

SIKESTON - Weight lifter Chad Holmes recently set a state dead lifting record of 744 pounds. Holmes, 23, competed in the 220-pound class and set the record at the Mid-America Bench Press and Dead Lift Championship held in July at St. Louis.

SIKESTON - Lauren Wibbenmeyer recently competed at the Gateway Junior Professional Golfers Association state tournament held at Whitmoor Country Club at St. Charles. She competed in the 11-year-old division and shot a 61 and placed third.
