SIKESTON - A Sikeston woman is a bit shaken up but apparently OK after being knocked down in a strong-arm robbery Monday.

According to Department of Public Safety officials, the 84-year-old woman was assaulted at about 1:37 p.m. while crossing the parking lot between McDonald's and Fashion Bug near Wal-Mart.

A car with Michigan plates pulled up next to her as she left McDonald's on her way to the other stores, according to witnesses. One of the two men in the vehicle then jumped out, struck her in the upper back to knock her down, took her purse and drove off.

The victim refused treatment and transportation by ambulance personnel responding to the call.

Witnesses described the car's occupants as two white males with thin builds that appeared to be in their mid-20s to early 30s. Men with similar descriptions were also reported by witnesses as being at the McDonald's counter at the same time as the victim.

The car was seen getting on Highway 60 heading west. The victim's purse was recovered a couple miles west of the intersection along that highway.
