SIKESTON - Miss Susan Ruth Hinkle, 122 South St., enlisted in the Waves at St. Louis on Aug. 26. Miss Hinkle has been employed at the Southeast Missouri Telephone Co.

PORTAGEVILLE - Junior King and Queen of the National Soybean Festival at Portageville were chosen last night. Winners were Charles Earnhart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Earnhart of Malden, and Michelle DeLisle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron DeLisle of Portageville. The float to win first prize was entered by the Portageville Garden Club.

SIKESTON - David Monson, regional director of the Department of Health and Human Services and former regional director of the Missouri Division of Aging, spoke Thursday morning at the Heritage House. Traveling with Congressman Bill Emerson's Mobile Office, he stressed that he was not campaigning for the congressman, but was there to provide a service to the community and discuss concerns of Social Security and other programs that have come under the direction of the Department of Health and Human Services.

SIKESTON - Garrett Limbaugh, son of Jeff and Cassandra Limbaugh, recently celebrated his fifth birthday at the Sikeston Complex. Also attending the party, which used "The Lion King" as its theme, were: his brother, Matthew Limbaugh; his grandmother, Carolyn Pobst; Frazer Stone, Clay Tongate, Jordan Angelle, Riley Lape, Kate Colley, Anna McReynolds, Hunter Dillender, and Caleb Seyer.

SIKESTON - Jane Minner recently retired as a physical therapy assistant at the Kenny Rogers United Cerebral Palsy Center. She had been employed by the center since 1975.
