MOREHOUSE - Johnie H. Eaton, 82, died March 20, 2004, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Grayridge, son of the late Charlie and Dellia Capps Eaton, he was a member of the General Baptist Church in Morehouse. He was superintendent of the Morehouse water plant for 24 years, a volunteer fireman for Morehouse for more than 20 years and member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
On June 31, 1942, at Benton, he married Anna Lorene Wader who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons, William "Sonny" Eaton and Mike Eaton of Sikeston and Wayne Eaton and Jimmy Eaton of Morehouse; four daughters, Shirley May Adams of Morehouse, Sue Goodman of McHenry, Ill., and Barbara Ann Elliott and Sherri Smith of Sikeston; three sisters, Annie Harlan and Marie Hill of Sikeston and Ruth Golf of Prairieville, Texas; and nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home with the Rev. Walters Adams, a Baptist minister, officiating.
Burial followed in the Essex Cemetery at Essex.
Pallbearers were: Loyd Adams, James Goodman, Ron Elliott Jr., William Smith, Lee Head and Ronnie McIntyre.
