SIKESTON - The Sikeston soccer team evened its record at 8-8-1 with a 9-1 whipping of Fredericktown at the Sikeston Recreational Complex on a wet and cold Monday night.

It was a more complete performance by the Bulldogs after slipping past Fredericktown 2-0 earlier this season.

"It was a real good game considering the weather," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long. "The ball was sliding all over the place and so were the players. It was a little different from the last time we played them. We worked on some things tonight and we even scored on a couple set plays that we've worked on in practice."

Sikeston, which built a 4-0 lead and led 6-1 at the half, was never seriously threatened by the Blackcats.

Blake Taylor and J.R. Bizzell each had two goals with an assist.

Martin Schaefer had two goals and two assists.

Eric Chappell, Chris Carnell and Justin Deere each had one goal.

Andrew Box, Cody Cooper, Carnell and Deere also had one assist each.

Fredericktown's goal was scored by Aaron Forister at the 33:00 mark.

Sikeston out-shot the Blackcats 28-3 while Scott Droddy had two saves for the Bulldogs.

Sikeston's junior varsity defeated Fredericktown 2-0 to improve to 4-9-1.

Michael Ragsdell scored both goals and Adam Gillean had both assists.

Sikeston will host Jackson today at 5 p.m.
