ESSEX - Mae Ida Whittaker, 65, died Nov. 3, 2005, at her residence.

Born March 10, 1940, in Marvell, Ark., daughter of the late Leonard "Man" and Ollie Mae Jones Getter, she had lived for 49 years in the Essex area and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grayridge. She retired from Tyson Foods after 35 years of service.

Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Kirtina and Paul Johnson of Sikeston and Susan Green of Gardner, Kan.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ted and Melissa Whittaker and Warren Whittaker, both of Essex; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert and Earnestine Jones and Billy Joe Getter, both of Malden, Jesse James Getter of East St. Louis, Ill., and Lee Dale Getter of Parma; one sister, Von Getter of Parma; a special friend, Elmer Sanders of Essex; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time for services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Moses Grayson of Essex officiating.

Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden.
