NORMAN, Okla. - Martha Earline Manar, 80, formerly of Mississippi County, Mo., died at 6:29 p.m. Nov. 5, 2005, at her residence.
Born Feb. 25, 1925, in Wyatt, Mo., daughter of the late Leondis Nathan and Jettie Levelle Brown Griggs, she left Mississippi County, lived in Rogers, Ark., and moved in 1999 to Norman. She had volunteered in various capacities for hospitals and community organizations.
In April 1970, she married Thomas Quitman Manar, who preceded her in death on June 18, 1986.
One stepson, Thomas J. Manar; two brothers, Leonard Griggs and Robert Griggs; and two stepgrandchildren also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Gina Lee Wright and Susan Kay Foster, both of Norman; five brothers, Douglas Griggs of Chicago, Nathan Griggs of Brawley, Calif., Morris Griggs, Richard Griggs and Sam Griggs, all of Charleston; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, with her nephew, the Rev. Lowell Robert Griggs, associate pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Clayton, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smith-Griggs Cemetery near Wyatt.
Pallbearers will be: Art Locklear, Scott Brink, Tim Millington, Douglas Griggs, Mark Griggs and Robert Griggs.
