CARUTHERSVILLE - A month-long investigation ended with the arrest of one man and the recovery of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $27,000.
The Bootheel Drug Task Force and the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Highway 165 in southern Pemiscot County Monday. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a half pound of crystal methamphetamine, cash and a firearm.
The suspect, who had been under investigation, was arrested and taken to the Pemiscot County Jail. He faces charges of first degree trafficking of a controlled substance.
According to John Higgins, supervising agent for the Bootheel Drug Task Force, the U.S. Attorney's office and the Drug Enforcement Administration are being contacted about filing of federal charges.
