Sikeston Standard Democrat: Obituaries: Nellie Tanner (10/15/04)

NEW MADRID - Nellie Tanner, 93, died Oct. 13, 2004, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born Oct. 26, 1910, in Conran, daughter of the late Jim Neopolian and Ella Louise Shephard Price, she was a charter member of the First United Pentecostal Church in New Madrid.

Her husband, Simon Tanner, preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1974.

Survivors include: two daughters, Helen Parker of St. Louis and Reba Adkins of Lexington, Tenn.; four sons, Doyle Tanner and Jackie Tanner of New Madrid, Travis Leon Tanner of Ballwin and Garion M. Tanner of Catron; and 38 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were two daughters, three sons, seven brothers and one sister.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the First United Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Orval McKinney and the Rev. Vernon Purser will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
