Six arrested in drug bust

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Department of Public Safety arrested six people on drug charges Thursday night after a search warrant was served on Cardinal Street.

According to DPS Director Drew Juden, the DPS Special Operations Team served a search warrant at 128 Cardinal after several controlled purchases of crack cocaine were made by the DPS narcotics unit and the SEMO Drug Task Force.

The crack cocaine was purchased from Lennon Deshaun Whitfield, 25, of Sikeston. He was charged with the distribution of a controlled substance with a cash bond of $100,000.

During the execution of the warrant, officers located and seized approximately seven grams of crack cocaine and arrested six.

One of the subjects, Tyler Dewayne Harris, 19, of Blytheville, Ark., had an active no bond warrant through Mississippi County, Ark., for first degree battery.

The four remaining people were released to be charged at a later date in connection with the distribution of the crack cocaine.
