SIKESTON - Ella Irene Smith, 90, formerly of Canalou, died at 12:24 a.m. Dec. 22, 2004, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Sept. 18, 1914, at Senath to the late Harve Franklin and Pearl Jenkins Campbell, she was a member of the Canalou Assembly of God Church for over 50 years and a housewife and homemaker.
On Dec. 27, 1930, she married Lige "Hawk" Smith, who preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1976.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Mary Jane Smith of Wentzville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bill Johnson of Sikeston, Genevieve and D.J. Lathum of Eads, Tenn., and Emily Causey Moore and Doug Moore of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Floyd Edward Smith and Donald Ray Smith; three brothers, Charlie, Archie and Robert Campbell; two sisters, Evelyn Lander and Lou Etta Campbell; and one granddaughter, Donna Jo Lathum.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Dr. Saleem Oza of Sikeston and Nora Magee of Morehouse, Mo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Mike Cartwright, pastor of the Canalou Assembly of God Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be Dan Smith, Bobby Smith, Billy Johnson, Tim Johnson, Mike Lathum, Joey Causey and Chad Causey.
Honorary pallbearers will be David White, Jamie Small, Steve Joyce, Bobby Aycock, Jeff Gutshall and Gary Landers.
