Rolls of sod, 100-feet in length, were placed along the Mississippi River levee Wednesday as workers for Dumey Construction of Benton continue their efforts to complete improvements along the riverfront. An erosion control blanket was pinned in placed over the dirt work in one direction then the sod laid crosswise and pinned to keep it in place during high water. While the project is running well ahead of schedule according to Dan Dumey, the final portion - placement of the boat ramp - can't be completed until the river drops some 23-feet to the 2-foot level.
