SIKESTON - J.W. Griffith, manager of Fabick Bros. Equipment Co., will head the Sikeston Lions Club during the coming year following his election at a meeting of the Club Wednesday at the Dunn Hotel.

SIKESTON - Mrs. Ralph (Violetta) McGee of Sikeston was selected Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women's Club on March 7. She was guest of honor at a party in Jefferson City Tuesday.

NEW MADRID - Noranda Aluminum Inc. in New Madrid has completed construction of the third potline and will begin production in July. It will increase production capacity by 85,000 tons.

SIKESTON - Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were recently conducted for the grand opening of Spirits, Etc., 805 S. Main in Sikeston. The business was purchased by Jerri Linda White. Present for the event were Steve McPheeters, Jerry Helmes, DeAnna Latham, Susie Beaird, Tyler White, Wesley Harris, Lauren Little, Janette Helms, Rick Adams, Margie Van Pool and Merlin Hagy.


SIKESTON - J.E. Ray was one of the first in line when the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo ticket office opened at 10 a.m. Saturday. Work was still in progress on the office as Jaycees began selling seats. According to Rodeo General Chairman David Vaughn, ticket sales are ahead of last year's.
